Meet Nasrin Begum
My name is Nasrin Begum and I am a UKCP and BACP accredited psychotherapist who works with children, adults, couples and families. I have more than 20 years experience of working with children and adults in the charity, social care settings and as a senior psychotherapist in the NHS.
I am trained in Systemic Psychotherapy, Emotionally Focussed Therapy (for couples), Non- Violence Resistance, Eye Movement Desensitiation and Reprocessing and Theraplay.
I work with diverse issues and have extensive experience in helping people with challenging relationships. I am an engaging therapist who listens and shares my ideas. I have been told that I am a warm and open person. I aim to create a safe, non-judgmental environment for you and work with your strengths to help create positive changes in your life.
I help people develop a deeper understanding of themselves so that they can navigate the complexities of the world around them with more compassion and less anxiety.
I can offer you therapeutic space to reflect and develop deeper insights that can increase your resilience to manage stressful situations. Through meaningful conversations, you can develop new and improved life skills to enhance the quality of your life.
My work is informed by the latest neuroscientific research, whilst also taking into consideration my clients’ age, cultural and ethnic origins, as well as religious beliefs, sexual orientation and reasons for referral.

Couple Therapy

Family Therapy
Family therapy is a type of treatment designed to help with issues that specifically affect families' mental health and functioning. It can help individual family members build stronger relationships, improve communication, and manage conflicts within the family. By improving how family members interact and relate to one another, family therapy can create change in close relationships.
Some of the primary goals of family therapy are to create a better home environment, solve family issues, and understand the unique issues that a family might face.
Individual therapy
Individual therapy, also known as talk therapy, is a form of psychotherapy that is focused on helping individuals address and overcome mental health challenges. This type of therapy involves meeting with a therapist on a one-on-one basis to discuss the individual’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
Truma therapy/EMDR therapy
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an evidence-based approach to treating trauma, anxiety, and other mental health issues. EMDR therapists help clients to process distressing memories, beliefs, and emotions to foster healing and growth.
Non-Violent Resistance (NVR)
NVR is an approach which has been specifically developed for responding effectively to violent, aggressive, self-destructive and controlling behaviour in children, adolescents and young adults.
NVR is successfully used with anxious young people, whose obsessive-compulsive behaviour controls the family, or who isolate themselves socially, have become addicted to the internet, or refuse to go to school. NVR is used to work with families in which young adults show 'entrenched dependency', and young adults with ongoing serious mental health problems.

The impact of mental health problems in the workplace continues to rise, and businesses are under increasing pressure to ensure that employees are supported and engaged in their mental health, which of course, benefits both the business and their workforce. I run well being seminar, while also discussing issues of race, gender and neurodiversity

Child therapy/Theraplay Practitoner
It can be very difficult for parents to watch their child struggle with difficult feelings, especially when they might also be unsure of how to help them. It can also stir up a range of complex feelings when parents make a decision to seek some help. Child and adolescent psychotherapy explores how a child or young person understands themselves, their relationships and the world around them. One of the aims of therapy is to investigate and help make sense of the psychological meaning and significance behind actions, emotions and behaviours. Behaviour is understood as a communication of feelings and emotions that may struggle to find words. Psychotherapy works on an understanding that as the meanings of behaviours are understood by a child or young person there becomes less need for the behaviour to be acted out to communicate a particular difficulty or situation. Working with children and adolescents also means helping them to create and learn skills to cope with their difficulties.
